Since our inception in 2007, we have empowered 73 leaders who embody the spirit of Shackleton to make a substantial impact in their communities, with innovative organisations that make a positive impact to the lives of disadvantaged young people.
The Shackleton Foundation was established in 2007 by the direct descendants of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1907/08 Nimrod expedition to celebrate the legacy of the legendary polar explorer and great man.
Shackleton helped others to overcome their doubts and fears in the face of true adversity. We are looking for individuals who display those same characteristics of courage, dedication and ambition.
We offer funding and support for those who have a big idea to help others, and against all odds are prepared to take the risk to turn it into reality.
